Faster product discovery without code

Joni Lindgren Founder & Growth PM 2 min read

In this episode of Datadrivet, Joni Lindgren and Jasmin Yaya talk to Isa Cederberg, Head of Marketing and Development at Birds Relations, about running product discovery fast and without writing code.

Birds Relations is an app built by two couple therapists for partners who want to improve their relationship. It was founded in July 2021 and combines more than ten years of couple therapy experience with a digital product. Isa joined at the ideation stage and started asking the critical questions the founders had not: how will we measure this, and how do we actually build the service? They had a clickable prototype, but it had not been tested.

She redirected the work toward understanding couples before they start therapy: who the audience is, what motivates them, what their problems are, and how to reach them. Rather than treat the prototype as the product, she used it as a conversation starter in user testing and depth interviews.

The tooling is the practical heart of the episode. The team turned the prototype into a relationship analysis using Typeform, then built on Bubble.io, a low-code platform that handles front-end, back-end, database, tracking, and user authentication through drag and drop. With that, they had a first testable version in three to four weeks.

That speed paid off. They could validate before committing to full development, they saw early user interest and marketing signal, they kept an advisory network for marketing guidance, and they secured a first investment based on what the testing showed.

The takeaway is that no-code tools let a small team test the real idea in weeks instead of months, so the build that follows is one users have already shown they want.
