Product analytics
Product analytics for teams that already have the tools and the data but still make decisions on opinion. We audit what you track, cut it down to what your business questions actually need, and build the dashboards together with your team so the capability stays after we leave.
The problem this solves
The analytics platform is live. Mixpanel, Piwik PRO, Power BI, GA4, whichever it is, the rollout is done and the dashboards exist. And yet the questions that matter this quarter still queue behind a developer or a single analyst, or they get answered with an export and a pivot table, or they quietly go unanswered because getting to the number is more work than the meeting allows.
There is often a second, earlier gap: the team does not trust the data enough to act on it. Events are named inconsistently, nobody knows which numbers are current, and a figure that contradicts someone’s intuition loses the argument. That is tracking nobody can use to make a decision.
What we actually do
- Audit what’s tracked and whether it can be trusted. We go through your current setup: what exists, who actually uses it, what should be kept, and what should be rebuilt. Where the tool itself is the barrier, we say so, and the criterion for choosing is who has to use it every day.
- Track just enough. We build a tracking plan around your business goals and user journey, with a naming standard your developers can keep as part of definition of done. At Cetti this meant 14 active events with clear names, collecting exactly what the business questions required.
- Build the first dashboards with your team, then hand them the keys. Dashboards are built together, shaped to answer this quarter’s questions, and we run a workshop where the team starts pulling its own answers. The goal is a standing practice your team keeps running.
What you leave with
- Tracking the team trusts, collected to answer named business questions.
- Dashboards that show which parts of the product are working, readable without knowing the tool.
- A team that answers its own product questions, and a naming standard that keeps the data clean as the product grows.
Who it’s for, format, and duration
This is for a CPO, Head of Product, or growth lead whose team has data and tools but keeps making product decisions without them. A common trigger is right after a platform rollout, or when a new bet needs to be measured from day one and nobody has the time to set it up properly.
The format follows the three steps above: audit, tracking plan, then dashboards and a workshop built with your team. Cetti’s engagement was around 120 hours. Larger organisations run longer; Fortnox and TeledyneFLIR were multi-month interim engagements across many teams.
One honest note on scope: we build the capability with your team rather than delivering a report. If what you want is a one-off analysis, this is more than you need.
